Corporate Social Responsibility

As a leading manufacturer of polymer products, Colloids is conscious of both the environmental impact that plastics can have on our planet and the importance of polymer technology to our modern lives.

Plastics can also bring many benefits to communities. For example, plastic pipes can carry water to drought-ridden areas and plastics are used throughout high-tech appliances such as, smart phones and life-saving medical equipment.

We are conscious of our responsibility, not only to our local environment, where we manufacture our products, but also to the global community. Colloids is committed to effectively supporting our colleagues, our neighbours and our environment.

Some CSR initiatives that Colloids support include:

Claire House Children's Hospice

A local charity, Claire House Children’s Hospice, is the chosen charity of 2019 for Colloids. The hospice helps seriously and terminally ill children live life to the full by creating wonderful experiences and bringing back a sense of normality to family life.

Andre Toczek, Commercial Director of Colloids, participated in the Liverpool-Chester-Liverpool 75-mile cycle event to raise money for the charity. Andre said, “Colloids’ pledge of £1,000 gave me the incentive and motivation to complete the event, and altogether this has raised more than £1,220 for Claire House. I already have my sights set on completing the 100-mile event in 2020 and anyone is welcome to join me.”

Harry Boshell, Partnership Manager of Claire House, said, “It’s brilliant that Colloids have chosen Claire House as a charity of the year. Over the last six years, we’ve seen an 84% increase in referrals for our services. Due to that demand, the support of partners like Colloids is vital. The funds donated will make a huge difference to local Claire House families across Liverpool and it’s always fantastic to show such passionate people around our Hospice.”

Clean Sweep Initiative

Colloids is signed up to the worldwide Operation Clean Sweep led by the British Plastics Federation. We have committed to ensure that any loose plastic pellets from the production of masterbatch are disposed of or recycled in the proper manner, so they do not end up in the oceans.
