“Coloured by Colloids” is the Interplas 2017 theme for Colloids Limited (Hall 4 F68), a leading manufacturer of high quality coloured and black speciality compounds, additives and bespoke masterbatches. During Interplas, visitors to the Colloids stand will be able to see the extensive range of bespoke metallic, pearlescent, glitter and fluorescent specialty colour masterbatches available. The expanded specialty masterbatch range has been developed to meet the growing demand for more enticingly coloured consumer products and packaging, especially for the personal care and cosmetics market.
Colloids masterbatches aim to provide both added value processing benefits, such as higher throughput rates, and to improve the quality of finished products. To further improve quality, the Colloids R & D team has recently developed a new Colloids ‘Smooth’ enhanced masterbatch formulation as part of its bespoke service. Bob Thomas, R & D Director for Colloids explains: “Our new Colloids ‘Smooth’ masterbatch formulation significantly reduces quality issues such as ‘die drool’ and extrusion ‘drag lines’, providing a visually superior surface finish. From speaking with customers, we know these sorts of aesthetics production issues can be a real challenge for extruders to overcome, particularly with pearlescent and other special effect colours”.
Colloids also offers its fast response Maxim® universal masterbatch service to meet smaller volume customer needs, with technical support provided where needed. Aimed primarily at injection moulding, blow mould, profile and sheet extrusion processes, the Maxim® universal carrier system has been optimized for diverse processes, with options in the range which are compatible with 26 polymers including PE, PVC, PS, ABS, polyamides and polyacetals; typical additional levels are 1-3%. Next day deliveries are made to mainland UK customers in any of the 200 standard colours stocked, with a minimum 1kg order quantity. Custom coloured Maxim® universal masterbatches are also supplied to order (minimum 25kg up to 10T), including pearlescent and fluorescent colour options.
Celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, Colloids is a long established UK supplier, with proven colour matching capabilities, along with an innovative in-house research team and technical masterbatch expertise for extrusion, injection and blow moulding.
